North Lanarkshire Update

I came across this Twitter post from Marion Fellows MP, one of the four SNP MPs whose constituencies cover the North Lanarkshire Council areas.

Now 'autism' is a very worthy cause for people to support, but I wonder if any readers have been in touch with Marion on the subject of equal pay and whether North Lanarkshire's four MPs are pursuing this issue vigorously with the local Labour-run council?

Because one regular reader got in touch recently and mentioned that they had written to another local MSP only to be disappointed that their response, so far at least, went no further than an automated 'thank you' letter.

So let's hope things improve, otherwise names will have to be named.

@marionfellowsmp

I have written to North Lanarkshire Council leader, Jim Logue, to request that efforts are made to secure funding for the Autism One Stop Shop in Motherwell.

I am deeply concerned that NLC and SLC are the only local authorities that have not pledged funding to keep their Autism OSS open.

The SNP group at NLC made provisions in their budget for funding of the OSS, but this was rejected by the Labour council.

During the budget process, Labour said that they would try to "protect the services which provide support to the most vulnerable people" - this is one such service.
