Frank Admission

Here's an interesting interview with Len McCluskey in which the Unite boss admits that the vast majority of his union members in Scotland voted SNP at the recent Westminster general election.

Now that counts as real progress if you ask me, because it's the first time as far as I know that such a senior union figure has faced up to something that's been obvious to everyone else for years.

So instead of trying to persuade Unite members to vote Labour against their better judgement why don't people like Len just accept that ordinary union members don't appreciate being 'persuaded' to vote for a particular political party?

Even if it is the one that Len and all his chums vote for.

What a terrible waste of the £14 million (members' money) that Unite has donated to Labour since Ed Miliband became leader back in 2010 - funds that could and should have been much better spent on vital issues like the fight for equal pay in Scotland, for example.

In other words, trade union bosses like Len have more important things to do with their time than trying to run the Labour Party.
