Gay Basher

The Independent reports that a lesbian Russian couple made their own personal protest against a notorious 'gay-bashing' Russian politician, Vitaly Milonov, on an internal flight from Moscow to St Petersburg.

Good for them because he seems like an incredibly stupid and boorish man!

Couple protest against Vitaly Milonov, the architect of Russia's anti-gay laws, with lesbian kiss selfie

The senator outwardly claimed that gay people “rape kids”, that any violence gay people say they have suffered is “fake information”

Vitaly Milonov is one of Russia’s most notorious homophobes.

The senator claimed that gay people “rape kids”, that any violence gay people say they have suffered under extreme vigilante homophobes is “fake information”, and that in actual fact, it’s gay men that go around beating up straight men.

“I think that much violence goes from gay people to straight people,” he told French journalist Julien Pain outside Queer Fest Film Festival in 2013. “Much more violence.

So against the idea of same-sex relationships is he, that he masterminded the country’s famously controversial ‘gay propaganda’ law, which was signed into law by Vladimir Putin in June 2013 “for the Purpose of Protecting Children from Information Advocating for a Denial of Traditional Family Values”.

It includes the distribution of any material referencing or eluding to gay relationships, defined as “[aimed] at causing minors to form non-traditional sexual predispositions, notions of attractiveness of non-traditional sexual relationships, distorted ideas about the equal social value of traditional and non-traditional sexual relationships, or imposing information about non-traditional sexual relationships which raises interest in such relationships insofar as these acts do not amount to a criminal offence.”

So when a pair of lesbian LGBT activists encountered a sleeping and blissfully unaware Senator Milonov on a flight from Moscow to St Petersburg recently, they decided to protest it in the best way possible – by making him the star of their gay kiss selfie.

“These crazy idiots were so brave that after taking the photo they ran to the end of the plane, sat there and didn’t even stick their necks out until the end of the flight,” a bemused Milonov told Flashnord of the image, which was uploaded to Facebook by the campaigners.

The aptly timed memento comes as the Senator attempts to seal a loophole in Russian law that allowed a Lesbian couple to marry in the country.

Irina Shumilova and Alyona Fursova wed at a registry office in St Petersburg in January.

Russian politician Vitaly Milonov brands Stephen Fry ‘sick’ during anti-gay rant
Vitaly Milonov also likened homosexuality to bestiality on BBC Radio 5 live

By TERRI JUDD  - The Independent

One of the architects of Russia’s anti-gay laws has launched an astonishing attack on homosexuality and accused broadcaster Stephen Fry of being “sick” because of his attempt to commit suicide.

Vitaly Milonov was speaking after Mr Fry called for a boycott of the Sochi Winter Olympics because of homophobic prejudice in Russia. New laws have made it illegal to provide information about homosexuality to anyone aged under 18. Foreign nationals who are found to be “promoting” homosexuality in this way face jail, while Russians are likely to be fined.

Earlier this year, Mr Fry, who has bipolar disorder, revealed he had tried to take his own life in 2012 and admitted he still struggled with loneliness and unhappiness, though his mental health had improved.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, Mr Milonov said: “Who is this Stephen Fry? I know because he is sick person because he tried to commit suicide as far as I remember.”

Mr Milonov met Mr Fry in St Petersburg in March this year when the broadcaster was filming a documentary on gay people’s experiences across the world and he interviewed the politician. The comment was part of a long, offensive rant by the politician and lawmaker, who likened homosexuality to perversion.

When asked whether he was fighting a war against homosexuals, Mr Milonov replied: “It is a shame and it is a sin but it is a personal choice. It is not normal but a person cannot be punished in Russia for being homosexual, or to live with a dog, with a horse, with a sheep, whatever.”

Questioned as to whether he was likening being gay to bestiality, he continued: “Homosexuality is one of the sins for us and it means we should not teach our kids that sin is okay.”

Mr Milanov was a co-sponsor of the so-called “non-traditional relationships” bill and said last month that athletes who transgress the law during the Olympics face arrest.

His comments came the day after Prime Minister David Cameron rejected a call by Mr Fry for the Sochi Winter Olympics to be moved. Writing on Twitter Mr Cameron said he shared the “deep concern” of many about the abuse of gay people in Russia, but added: “I believe we can better challenge prejudice as we attend, rather than boycotting the Winter Olympics.”

Mr Fry said he didn’t think any nation should boycott the Games but called on athletes to show their support for equality in other ways.

“What is now important is that we persuade all Olympic athletes, all over the world, to do a salute of some kind when they win a medal,” he said. “Cross their hands, maybe, or just a salute. People in Russia can’t help but see this on television, because they won’t be able to watch the Olympics without seeing this gesture.

“They will start to ask what it means and word will get out – it means they are showing their solidarity and respect for the incredible suffering and brutality that is being inflicted on the poor people of Russia. The suicide rate of gay teens is rocketing.”
