Brown, Balls and Milband

William Hague is stepping down as a Westminster MP at the next general election, but the former Conservative leader has always been admired as a public speaker and effective performer in the House of Commons.

Seems like he also being used to develop a new line of attack on the Labour leadership aimed at reminding voters that Gordon Brown, Ed Balls and Ed Miliband go back a long way.

Here's the pitch that William Hague has been practising in Birmingham at the recent Tory Party conference:

"The coming election is therefore a choice: between more of this good progress or a lurch back to the days when Gordon Brown not only ran out of everybody else's money, but Ed Balls and Ed Miliband actually advised him on how to do it."

And judging by this youthful photograph I found of the two Eds, they both seem to have opted for laser eye surgery or contact lenses.

I wonder why?
