Bad Barbie

Barbie

How could it be possible that a Barbie doll could use the F-word unless some rogue employee at Mattel was having a bit of 'fun'.

Because if not, then the folks behind the 'Toy Story' franchise have been right all along, but I will keep my eyes on The Independent where this story appeared.

Mother swears she heard Barbie use F-word

The toy maker Mattel is investigating after a parent claimed that a talking Barbie doll swore at her.

The battery-operated doll makes a number of innocuous statements including “I love a makeover”, “There is no substitute for glitter” and “To the salon!” — but then, according to Talina Evans, 25, who bought the doll for her daughter, Demileigh, the doll uttered “What the f***”.

Mrs Evans, Caernarfon in north Wales, said that she tried to return the £8 toy to the shop where she bought it but had lost the receipt.

Mrs Evans, from Caernarfon in north Wales, said: “She has been playing with it constantly. We hadn’t really paid that much attention to it or what it was saying. Then a friend picked it up and I heard it say ‘What the f***’ loud and clear. I was so shocked.

“We’ve taken it off her now. We just told her that the doll had been bad and was swearing so it had to go.”

The doll is based on Barbie’s web reality show, Life in the Dreamhouse. It is understood that the phrase is supposed to be: “Off the hook”.

Mattel confirmed yesterday that an investigation had been launched but it refused to comment further.
